U.S. Forest Service Stewardship Contracts

Willamette National Forest Stewardship Contracting Funds

The Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) convenes and facilitates the McKenzie Watershed Stewardship Group (MWSG) that provides the U.S. Forest Service (USFS) advice on developing stewardship contracts, restoration actions conducted under stewardship contracts, and use of retained receipts. The MWSG consists of a variety of partners that represent a range of interests in the watershed and operates under an agreement.

The use of retained receipts for restoration actions on private properties in PWP under the Wyden Authority has support from the group and the Willamette National Forest. The first stewardship contract has been sold and retained receipts are expected to be generated in 2017. Use of stewardship contracting as a tool for funding restoration for Pure Water Partners (PWP) landowners is still under development as agreements are negotiated.
